Before the ENCRUCIJADA International Congress planned by the Seminario de Escultura Virreinal of the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), to be held in Cádiz November 6 - 9, the organizers have proposed a meeting in the Canary Islands, with the topic: Tenerife: crossroad for the study of the ornamentation of sculpture.

The project originated with the interest of the Paul Getty Foundation of Los Angeles in this topic, and has as its immediate precedent a meeting held in Los Angeles last November. On that occasion, members of the Getty and the UNAM Seminar met with Dr. Carlos Rodríguez Morales of the Canary Islands. The fundamental purpose was to make contact, and to discuss the necessities and problems in evaluation which arise during interventions on polychrome sculpture.
