de Veracruz, se encuentra La Mixtequilla, un importante centro
prehispánico de fabricación de cerámica.
En 1957 se localizó el primer ejemplar de este tipo
de cerámica y hasta el momento se han encontrado 65
vasijas. Von Winning y Gutiérrez Solana describen
e interpretan los relieves de 27 vasijas completas y un fragmento,
y presentan un inventario de las figuras que aparecen en las
vasijas estudiadas e ilustradas en el libro y otro con datos
generales de las 37 vasijas restantes.
The Iconography of the Ceramic of Río
Blanco, Veracruz
The site of La Mixtequilla, located
to the south of the Blanco river in the state of Veracruz,
was an important pre-Columbian center of ceramic manufacturing.
In 1957 the first piece of this ceramic style was discovered,
and 65 pieces have been found so far. Von Winning and Gutiérrez
Solana describe and interpret the reliefs in 27 whole vessels
and a fragment, and provide a catalog of the figures depicted
in the pieces analyzed and reproduced in this book, as well
as an inventory containing general information about the
37 remaining pieces.

Teotihuacan State, the relations it developed with other cultures
and the religious and philosophical concepts underpinning
its power base.

francés Désiré de Charnay hizo en
distintas partes del territorio mexicano durante los años
de 1880 a 1882, así como la reacción elogiosa
o desfavorable que sus trabajos provocaron en el medio
cultural y político mexicano de la época,
hasta llegar a un acalorado debate en la Cámara
de Diputados, durante el mes de octubre de 1880, que tuvo
como tema principal el patrimonio arqueológico nacional.

Position Regarding its National Archaeological Heritage
Díaz y de Ovando presents her
newspaper and journal research on the explorations carried
out by French archaeologist Désiré de Charnay
in several regions of Mexico between 1880 and 1882, tracing
the favorable and hostile reactions in the cultural and political
circles of that time. Charnay’s explorations led to
an animated debate in Congress about national archaeological
heritage in October, 1880.

and analyzing the representations of olli in pre-Columbian
codices, ceramic objects, sculptures and murals.

prehispánica en México
Desde su fundación, el seminario multidisciplinario
La Pintura Mural Prehispánica en México se
ha propuesto hacer el registro sistemático y gráfico
de la pintura mural que se localiza en los sitios arqueológicos
más importantes, así como el estudio de este
patrimonio cultural con metodologías distintas. Hasta
el momento se han editado los tomos sobre Teotihuacán,
Bonampak, zonas mayas diversas y Oaxaca. El primer tomo de
cada parte contiene cédulas con la información
correspondiente a ubicación, medidas, descripción
de las imágenes, lectura de las inscripciones y datos
arqueológicos, así como planos, dibujos y fotografías
de los murales del área. El segundo compendia los
estudios de los especialistas que abordan las obras pictóricas
desde su propia disciplina: arqueología, arquitectura,
astronomía, biología, epigrafía, historia,
historia del arte, iconografía, restauración
y conservación.

Since its foundation, the multidisciplinary seminar La Pintura
Mural Prehispánica en México has sought to
carry out the systematic and graphic registration of mural
paintings at leading archeological sites, together with the
study of this cultural heritage from varying methodological
standpoints. For the moment the volumes about Teotihuacan,
Bonampak, several mayan zones and Oaxaca have been edited.
The first volume of each part is a catalog comprising information
about location and measurements, a description of the images,
a reading of the inscriptions, and archaeological data; there
are also plans, line drawings, and photographies of the murals
in the site. The second volume contains articles by specialists
who analyze the murals from the perspective of their disciplines:
archaeology, architecture, astronomy, biology, epigraphy,
history, art history, iconography, restoration and conservation.
