in northern Mexico that still conserves much of its original

in its altarpieces, sculptures, paintings and silverwork.

construction of the cathedral of Morelia, since the handling
of the funds for this work caused much concern in the Spanish
court. The body of documents presented in this work clearly
reflects the history of the construction of the cathedral,
which was started in 1576 with a letter from the Viceroy suggesting
the relocation of the Episcopal See, and extolling the virtues
of the site at Guayangareo, the original name of Morelia. |
